Created from hand-sheared Vermont fleece spun on a great wheel and indigo-dyed. I executed my own surface design on an 18th-century loom, constructing a double-weave cloth that unfolds into a tangible milestone of craftsmanship.

Marshfield Linen Napery

Fiber: 100% Linen Singles
Structure: Plain Weave
Dimensions: 2 (22" x 30")

Woven during an intensive at the Marshfield School of Weaving in Vermont. Working on an 18th-century loom, I utilized singles linen. The resulting cloth was cut and hand-hemmed into tea towels.

Silk Weft Ikat Tunic

Fiber: 100% Silk
Structure: Satin (Weft Ikat)
Dimensions: 36" x 4 yards
Date: June 2018
Completed during a study with Kay Faulkner in Brisbane, Australia. This piece utilizes weft ikat, where the pattern is dyed into the yarn before weaving. The deep black feathers into subtle hints of olive and pink at the edges. Once off the loom, I hand-sewed the finished yardage into a tunic.

Betty + Norman (1948)

Fiber: 100% Silk
Structure: Satin (Jacquard)
Dimensions: 36" x 27"
Date: 2012
A woven collage visualizing the early courtship of my grandparents. Created during my B.F.A. studies at SCAD, this piece utilizes the pixel-to-thread capability of the Jacquard loom to embed archival family memory directly into the silk structure.

Heavy Metal: Material Studies

Fiber: Stainless Steel, Copper Wire, Magnetic Tape (VHS/Cassette), Wool
Structure: Original Drafts
Date: 2011
A series of structural experiments conducted at SCAD using a Compu-Dobby loom. These samples explore surface luminosity and the interplay of light across refractive materials. By weaving with stainless steel, copper, and magnetic tape, I created structures specifically designed to catch and fracture light.

The WL Ford Quilt

Technique: Machine Appliqué & Quilting
Materials: Cotton / Batting
Dimensions: 72" x 80"
Date: 2012
A tribute to my father’s life as a mechanic and car enthusiast. The front features his two favorite restorations, 1948 Ford Coupe and a 1960 F-150, signed with his "WL" mark. The back uses the cars' paint colors to create a bold geometric pattern.
